HTML/URL Test

Post by clerevan »

Hi KS-Soft

I have a problem with URL or HTTP test.

My company have several different website and it runs through one portal website.

If we tried to connect to our clients website which inside those portal, it's not working in both URL and HTTP, it's portal itself is using http port. Do you know what happened? or Do we need to run a certain criteria to be able to test website that use portal?

thank you,

What url are you trying to monitor http or httpS?
What is URL request test status? Reply field value?
What is HTTP test status? Reply field value?
What settings do you use for these test items?
What are exprected test results (Status, Reply)?

Not sure what do you mean "website that use portal"?
May be you are trying to monitor content of website that uses frames and loads content into these frames?

So we have 2 service, run in different portal website,

say the first service is
portal1.test1.ca it's run on Https port and it's working perfectly fine.

however, second service.
portal2.test2.ca it's run on http port and it's not working at all.

as you see, i give the information of the setting and the time out setting is 60 sec.

Could you use network packet analyzer (like WireShark) to check what is going on?

Hi Ks-Soft,

I have used the wireshark to look at what happened in the wireshark log.

From Web browser, i just provide from line 1 until 44 to know the difference:
http://postimg.org/image/wc1bcsfnr/

For URL test ,36 lines:
http://postimg.org/image/ldq1ulr2f/

For HTTP Test, 20 lines:
http://postimg.org/image/h21g5lk5j/

it seems hostmonitor try to get the redirect but somehow it stops, any idea why this is happening?

As I understand there are several different test items recorded in the log?
Could you please send wireshark file to us (support@ks-soft.net).

>it seems hostmonitor try to get the redirect but somehow it stops, any idea why this is happening?

No idea...
You have marked "Code 302 is Ok" so HostMonitor should accept this redirection.
If you unmark this option, HostMonitor should set "Bad" test status.
While you see "No answer" status.

Hi Alex,

There is only one URL being recorded by wireshark, however wireshark recorded by different session, each session have different method.

First is HTTP test by hostmonitor.
Second is URL test by hostmonitor.
Third is the Web browser test by hostmonitor.

Yes, I have enabled the redirect and also code 302 (redirect) is OK.

I Manage to make it alive in test by HTTP method. However When I tried to use in real Test it will failed.

I will give you another PS to make it easier to understand.

http://postimg.org/image/b27b63ten/
http://postimg.org/image/grnjqezkv/

as you can see, when i test it on advance option is work perfectly, but when i use it as a real test, it failed.

Is this bug in hostmonitor? I have tried to change the agent, but nothing happened.

thank you,

Hi Alex,

I test only web/access/login.aspx

because i only want to know that website is alive or not, not the other link.

Unfortunately, for web server, we can't give the information about the web server because it's confidential.

However, is it a bug that at the last printscreen, in advanced option i have alive status. But i have applied that setting, the test turn to no answer?

thank you,

Then how other URLs were recorded? Are you sure just 1 test probe was started? Could you please make sure just 1 test started and send wireshark file to us?

May be. We do not understand what is going on that's why we want to see communication...

Hi Alex,

I can not give the wireshark information because it have information related to the confidential issue in our company and clients.

As I said. I setup a HTTP test using http://portal.[company].ca/[client]/Web/Access/login.aspx

and the print screen I give to you show:
1. Advanced option of the HTTP test, then the result of the test using that advanced option (that test is in advanced option session). And the result is good. You can see the result was Alive
2. List of my test. The result test for that http://portal.[company].ca/[client]/Web/Access/login.aspx was no answer and timed out even after i set into 60 seconds.

Wireshark configuration listen only to port 80, and no other test is done at that time.

I hope you understand the situation alex. Because of the confidentiality issue, I can't give you about other wireshark result or web server information.

My question is, why hostmonitor failed to say host is alive even though in advanced option it says host is alive?

thank you,

Christhoper
