We keep getting a "RMA: 301 - Cannot retrieve data" while using the CPU Usage Test for a couple of new servers. This comes up quite frequently and we end up getting false notifications. We don't see this with other servers we are also monitoring. These new servers are Dell PE R710. They each have 2 CPU with 6 cores each. These are Xeon X5660 @ 2.8 GHz. We are running Server 2008R2, 64-bit.

We have HM v.8.68c, RCC, v.3.68, RMS v.3.74
We have changed the Performance Counter test mode back and forth from Multi-thread to Smart and OneByOne with no luck.
Wondering if you can suggest something to resolve this?
Appreciate any insight you might have.

Alex,
Thanks for your reply. We are using Active RMA Agents. This does not have the timeout setting from what I can see.
The Network Engineer I'm working with, reviewed Active versus Passive and initially felt Active was what we should use. Does this make sense for the CPU Usage Tests?
Can you have a mix of both Active and Passive being monitored on the same servers.
Any further insight would be appreciated.

Are you sure?? Error message looks like you are using Passive RMA. Could you please verify? Thanks for your reply. We are using Active RMA Agents.
Also, I assume "RMS v.3.74" means "RMA 3.74"?
I think we never released Active RMA version 3.74. So I assume you are using pretty old Passive RMA (released in April-May 2008) that may work incorrectly with new HostMonitor. Well, some tests will not work at all.
Please use all components (HostMonitor, RCC, RMA, Web Service, etc) from the same Advanced Host Monitor package.
Note: You may easily update set of RMA using RMA Manager

This choice has nothing to do with test methods. It depends on your network/firewalls configuration. The Network Engineer I'm working with, reviewed Active versus Passive and initially felt Active was what we should use. Does this make sense for the CPU Usage Tests?

Alex,
Sorry, I meant RMA Setup v.3.74. The version of The Active Remote Monitoring Agent is 4.08. I believe all versions were installed from the same package.
Yes, I believe this is from the Active Agent. I will capture the Configuration snapshots and see if I can email them to you, as I'm not sure how to post them on the forum.
The link you sent with timeout, appears to be the Passive Agent page.
It was determined that Active was acceptable in this environment, based on the details you sent.
If you can review my configuration and indicate where I might have something incorrect.

1st link points to article that tells how to update RMA using RMA Manager
2nd link points to article that describe difference between Passive RMA and Active RMA.
