Clear Saved Defaults for Data Source and Login

Post by bhugh »

We've changed some datasources and logins. I'm using RCC and the old ones remain as defaults. I can't seem to find where these are stored. I looked in the

C:\Users\xxuser\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\HostMonitor8 and the C:\Program Files\HostMonitor8, but can't seem to find where this is stored to remove these from showing up. Annoying having old ones that are no longer valid.

Not sure I understand what exactly "datasources and logins" you want to remove.
RCC keeps just last user name. Type new name and it will be stored instead of old one.
(unless you are using command line parameters like -uniqueprofiles and -storepassword)

If you are talking about accounts used for test items, check Connection Manager settings (menu Profiles -> Connection Manager) and "Connect as" property of your test items

I'm using RCC. Updating an ODBC Test Method. In the Data Source there are old/unused datasource names. Also in login, there are old logins. Both of these are List of Values that would like to be able to remove the old ones so I don't have to keep picking over them for the correct ones. Wondering how I can remove these.

Are you talking about Test Properties dialog?

It shows list of values that are in use right now. You have some other test items that use such data source or login names. Just remove such tests if you don't need them anymore.

Yes, I am. I got it now. I was thinking like windows, they get saved off. Not that they are from actual tests. We moved over a bunch of tests to the new version. We are changing the logins, but having the old one come up make for extra effort. But I can see why you are going from what is defined now that you explain what is being shown.

Thanks!

Are you sure it only shows test details that are defined? I just checked one of them that are showing up and I can't find any tests using it.

Yes, HostMonitor does not store any file with unused test properties.
Some lists (but not fields from Test Properties dialog) probably can save values used in current session (until HostMonitor restart).

I think you may export test settings into text file and use any text editor/viewer to find test item with specific parameter value
