All questions related to installations, configurations and maintenance of Advanced Host Monitor (including additional tools such as RMA for Windows, RMA Manager, Web Servie, RCC).
You see "RMA: Connection error" message in Reply field of the test? Then this has nothing to do with some specific Windows 2008 problems. HostMonitor simply cannot connect to the agent.
Please check your firewall settings and HostMonitor/RMA settings. Have you specified correct IP address, port? Have you allowed RMA to accept connections from system where HostMonitor is running?. Do you see any error messages in logs maintaimed by RMA?
Version 7.78 can check Windows 2008. But you are using RMA to perform the test, so its question what version of the agent do you use.
Regarding message dialog: its just old message. New version shows different text.
If you are not sure what port you have specified for the agent and HostMonitor then you definitely have to check your settings. You should cehck what port do you use and this port number should be the same on both sides (HostMonitor and RMA).
Also, have you checked the log?
BTW Port 5056 is default port for Active RMA. I though you are using Passive RMA. Am I wrong?
Please read the manual or visit our web site for information regarding Passive RMA, Active RMA and how to setup test items using RMA
Any test does not need RMA when you monitor single LAN.
If you monitor remote network protected by firewall then Ping and other tests may not work.
That's why each test item allows you to choose what component should perform the test: HostMonitor or some agent.
If you select "HostMonitor" then test it performed directly by HostMonitor.
If you select name of the agent, then test will be performed by agent (HostMonitor sends request to RMA and receives test result from agent).
As I understand you have created record for agent that even was not installed? How do you expect to connect to a program that does not exist??
