Folder Variables

Post by rsbomar »

Is there an easy way to copy a set of variables from one folder to another in Hostmon? Instead of manually typing all the variables in. I don't mind putting in the settings for the variables but I was hoping there was some way to copy the variables themselves over.

There is no such option, probably we can implement it.
BTW: when you set "use folder variables" option for the folder, HostMonitor copies variables from parent folder

That would be awesome if that was added. I'm trying to set up about 50 folders and I have about 16 variables for each folder and if I could copy the variables over it would be sooooo much easier.

Will it be possible to copy a folder..? Including tests and variables..?

How about exporting/importing folder variables..?

The feature works great. By going through this I have run into another issue. When I set up all my test using variables then set up the folder variables and copy over the test from one folder to another everything copies over great but I have settings for test depends on another test. Can you think of some way to use variables so this can be accomplished.

To give you an overview of what I have. We are a restaurant company with 40 remote locations so each folder represents a location.
Under each folder I have a ping test for the cable modem. This is the master test for the external side of the vpn appliance which is the master test for the internal side of the vpn appliance, which is the master test for the Server which has a CPU & Disk Space & some other service test. Each Server specific test uses the server ping test as it's master test. So if I have a breakdown anywhere in the system the test that are running will pause while the master test is not working.
