7.20 / 7.22c doesnt start up anymore - timebomb?

Post by guido »

Hallo,

we are using 7.22c - enterprise

the application / the service doesnt start up anymore.

We tested already different versions of hm on different systems, but didn´t get it working. (tested an old version of 5 / 6 -> working,
tested the newest Version (778) -> working)

still not knowing whats the problem we were joking about a timebomb in 7.2x -> switched the system date a year back -> Hostmonitor starts up

It seems that it has stopped working correctly on 2/1/2009.

We couldnt change the system date on all machines - logging etc, so please help us getting the system running again

Yours sincerely

guido

P.S.: our license doesn´t allow us to use a newer Version - so we cant change to the actual version

P.S. 2.: already tried to install 7.22c on some different machines, server 2003, server 2000, xp sp3, xp sp2 unpatched -> doesn´t work at all -> needed to set the system date back -> hm 722 start s up again

P.S. 3: sorry for my english

Accepts to start if date is forced to 2008 !!
Thanks for the hint. It doesn't fix the problem though.

Starts if date is 2008 with rci problem

Post by tizou »

May be a debug hint :

There is a RCI warning if HM service is started with the date back to 2008:

"Cannot activare RCI, probably port #1054 in use. Please make sure you have started just one instance of hostmonitor".

Starts but not working as expected

Post by tizou »

Thank you Alex for your help, but I was using a special build to fix a MailRelay test : 7.22.0.483.

So that HM starts, but sends me back to where I was a few months ago, with a MailRelay problem. You should find the detail on my previous posts.

Would you finally include that MailRelay fix in a current release ?

Thanks.

MailRelay fix you mentioned is included into release 7.42 and up. You may try it.

I'm relieved, 7.78 works just fine. Thanks.

Yes, this problem relates to version 7.20 and 7.22 only. Older and newer versions work fine (e.g. 7.10, 7.14, 7.18, 7.42...)

Since I have installed this patch, none of my custom alerts are available in the program?

Custom alerts? Do you mean "Action profiles"? Do you mean if you click menu "Profiles" -> "Action profiles", HostMonitor does not display any profiles (shows empty list)?
Does HostMonitor show any error on startup? If HostMonitor is started as service, you may check NT Event Log for errors. Do you see any?
What version of HostMonitor have you used before applying patch? 7.20? 7.22?

"Alert Profile" ...the drop down list is blank if the test used an alert I'd custom made...when you browse to "Action profiles" the actions are not listed there either.

There are no errors on startup and its not started as a service. We are using 7.22

I save my .hml file whenever a change is made to a test, so why arent these saved also? :(

ok...my bad...a colleague had uninstalled/re-installed the hostmonitor before I became involved in the problem...I would imagine this removed the .lst I had customised and replaced with a default.

I found an action.lst file I had saved previously :)

Glad to hear that. :-)
We recommend to backup all *.hml, *.ini and *lst files on regular basis. If you want to move or reinstall HostMonitor you should copy all these files at once.

Same problem here, but we are using v7.20 (hostmon.exe is v7.20.0.477) and our license is not valid for v7.22.
Could you upload a fixed v7.20 please? A valid license for v7.22 would do as well. ;)

Regards

Walter
