Autogenerate report still work running as service

Post by mandg »

Does anyone know if the Autogenerate reports setting still works if I configure HM to run as a service? This is for v6.75 and I set a single report to generate every 5 minutes.

Do you mean "Generate reports every N min" option located in "Options" -> "Reports" tab? Yes, sure. This option works in service mode as well.
Have you faced to any problems using this option? Do you see any error messages in system log (menu "View" -> "System Log")?

Thanks, Max. I do see errors in the log at the time it wasn't working.
"Report creation error: Cannot create file "\\uncpath\report\Status.htm"

Could this be because of the unc path and not a local path? For what it's worth, this works fine when the HM app is open and running- the report generates every 5 minutes as configured.

I don't think so. On my opinion, the problem appears because of permissions issue.
What account do you use to start HostMonitor service? We recommend to start HostMonitor service under admins account. You may specify certain account into "Options" -> "Service" tab. http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... tm#Service

Thanks, Max.

That what it was exactly. I'm using 'local system' for the service which means that the system couldn't write to the destination unc path without the proper permissions. Once I set this up properly, the reports generated fine.

Thanks!
