Statistics and Loganalyzer

Post by LoosInt »

We have a Ping-Test which shows in the Statistics
a Dead Time of 2 days and 12 hours.
But the Log-Analyzer says that there was no answer for 9 days in a special Timeperiod.
The Test was really "bad", not "unknown"
And the device was really dead for 9 days.

So how could it be that these 9 days werent in the Statistics-Field as dead-time ?
Maybe someone has acknoledged the failed test and since the acknoledgement the dead-time isnt counted ?

Thanks for an answer.
Greetings

Could you provide more information, please?
- What version of HostMonitor do you use?
- What version of LogAnalyzer do you use?
- What "Default Logging mode" is selected in "Options" -> "Primary Log" tab?
- Do you jave enabled "Use provate log" option for this particular ping test?

Sorry, I do not understand you. What do you mean under "Statistics"? Do you mean "Test" -> "Show Statistics"? But this menu item starts LogAnalyzer. Or do you mean Total time, Alive Time, Dead Time, etc. fields in HostMonitor screen?

Actually, Loganalyzer uses log files to generate statistics, while HostMonitor shows internal counters, stored in HML file. Probably, logging was disabled for some period of time?

Hi Max,

thanks for your reply.

HM-Version is: 7.46
LogAnalyzer-Version is: 5.46
Default Logging mode is: "write a record when test status changes (Brief)"
In the Test is "use common log .. Logging mode "default" selected.

Mh, logging was'nt disabled but it could be that as the test became "red" (the device was unavailable) the "acknoledge-button" was pressed.
Does this stop the counting of "dead time" ?

Thank you.

Could you please, send the log file to support@ks-soft.net?
Also, please, specify what exact test we are talking about (name, ID).

Max

No, HostMonitor calculates "alive"/"bad" time according to test status, regardless of "acknowledged" flag. You may easily verify that.

Probably somebody reset statistics for the test?
You can verify that by checking "total time" counter of this test item.
You can reset statistics by clicking on "Reset" button. Also statistisc can be resetted on regular basis, see "Statistics" options located in folder Properties dialog. HM Script provides option to reset counters as well.
