URL HTTPS monitoring doesn not work.. HTTP does? please help

Post by Garia666 »

Hi,

Im stuck with a problem which i hope i can get some help on.
We use hostmonitor as our main monitoring tool in our company.
V.7.18 on a WINXP sp2

I have been asked, to setup monitoring of HTTPS URLs which are called heartbeats.

Example

https://mpw.martinair.aero:443/nesp/app/heartbeat

It should give an Success and by that we know all the services needed for this sever are running correctly on port 443.
SSL cert is made for this domain name.
I have managed to add this on our hostmonitor and it runs fine.

However we have several servers on our cluster wich function as an fallover. these servers need to be monitored aswell. The only problem is i cant get it to work over HTTPS.

I do got it working over http:

Using the link with out the header will result in a failure.

Now since i want it to work on https and i know the cert isnt right as its used for internet i have select the option

Ignor cert errors as you can see in the pic.

However it will not work.

I havent got much experience with hostmonitor so i have no clue what im doing wrong here. Please advise!

As I can see, URL you want to monitor belongs to your intranet network, so we cannot access it outside for testing. :-?
Are you able to receive "Success" response when you put target URL into your web browser? What exact browser do you use? IE? Firefox? Other? Do you see any warnings?

Could you click on "HTTPS: Accept certificates with invalid host name" and "HTTPS: Accept certificates with invalid dates" option as well? On your screen-shot they are greyed out, so you should enable them. It might help.

Hi thanks for your fast reply,

No i cant get it to work in the browser. i think it has to do with the SSL Cert. We use IE Explorer 6, have tried on firefox aswell.
The same goes for the normal HTTP But with host monitor and the optional header we get it to work.
I have no idea if its possible to insert an header in IE explorer to test it.

It seems that was teh sollution. I had no clue i could just click on the greyed out butttons and then they became active. i selected them and now its working.

Thanks for all the help!
