The last few days, we have been receiving alerts for our clients on disk space issues. The alerts have been 90% false, coming back with one of these errors:
Status: Unknown
Reply: RMA 301 - An operation was attempted on a nonexistant network connection
OR
Status: Unknown
Reply: RMA 301 - The specified network name is no longer available
This is definitely not the case as I jump on the servers everytime I see this and the share is fine.
Please assist, thanks.
RMA: 301 errors showing everywhere
You are using UNC test? What Windows is installed on target system and system where RMA is running? Service Pack?
Microsoft explanation of this error does not provide much help

Do you use VMWare?
Then you may try to disable TOE (tcp/ip offload engine)

Another possible solution: disable Denial-Of-Service attack detection

Does "false" alert means you may access specified network resource from the same system where RMA is running using some other software (e.g. Explorer)?

What exactly have you done before this error appeared? The last few days, we have been receiving alerts for our clients on disk space issues. The alerts have been 90% false, coming back with one of these errors:

Yeah the test is UNC, because the Disk Space tests do not have the option to check percentages, just GB/MB/KB
Windows Server 2003 is installed on these systems returning these errors.
oh, and VMware isn't in use on our Watchdog system, although we are moving the system to a VM in the near future with the latest version.

nothing was done before the errors started appearing. We manage i believe around 700 servers, and for about two weeks we get down alerts for this problem on UNC path on servers in totally different environments. I wish we could check Disk Space Free by %, but that's not an option on the version I use.
I check to see if i can access that share when I receive the alert, and have no problems doing so on the server that is reporting this problem in host monitor

Drive Free Space and UNC test use the same API. UNC test allows you to check local and remote resources while Drive Free Space checks local drives only.
What account do you use to start agent? Have you used the same account to check resource manually? Agent started as service or application? Do you use admin account to run agent?
What about other test methods that check the same servers? Do you use Process, Service, CPU Usage tests? Do they work fine?
How exactly you have specified UNC path? Using hostname or IP address? like \\195.168.10.10\C$ ?
As I understand when test fails, RMA cannot perform it anymore? Or test works and fails just from time to time then come back alive?

So, you have started Windows Explorer on system where agent is running and you have accesses recource on remote system while RMA returns error checking the same resource? I assume agent is checking some other system (not the same system where agent is running)?I check to see if i can access that share when I receive the alert, and have no problems doing so on the server that is reporting this problem in host monitor
