How many times are you asked questions that are addressed in your help file? We all are guilty of needing to be told 'RTFM' - sometimes.
You have a very informative, well organized help file, but I want the ability to, for instance, type in the word 'variable' and see every reference, across all topics. So far I haven't found a way to do that.
So, when are you guys gonna produce a fully searchable help system?
(Now it's your turn to show me where I missed it )
I don't want a 'patch', I looking for a fix. , so anything that will allow full text searching would be appreciated, especially if the following concerns are addressed:
Will the PDF preserve the existing hyperlinks?
Will this PDF contain all the 'books' available in the current html system?
Are you going to redirect your \Help\ menu to use this proposed PDF?
In my opinion a standard compiled help file (.chm) would probably be a better approach, but again you demonstrate a responsiveness and creativity of approach that keeps me coming back!
Keep up the good work.

I think so.

Probably not. PDF is not very good for such purpose....
I was thinking about PDF as addition to our current manual in MS Word format (manual.doc)
Help system.. may be it does not need search function at all? Its context sensitive. When you click Help button in some window, Help provides information about this specific tool and it contains various links to other pages that you may need.

Yeah, but you missed the point. . .

(Read - "across all tools")
Your compiled (hostmon.chm) help file is simply not organized to facilitate this.
I think I understand the issue. A number of CHM authoring tools allow you to merge TOC's from multiple help files, but only a few facilitate a full text search across multiple help files. It appears that is the corner you are painted into. You may need to spend some time searching for a better authoring tool.
I would agree with this as I have asked questions on the forum that I could have answered myself if there had been a properly indexed and searchable help file available. The time taken to compile that help file might pay back several times over in saving answering as many newbie questions on the forums?
