Can AHM summarize event data and export it?

Post by soadmin »

Hello,

We are looking into creating a front end summary webpage for the many network applications we use.
I was wondering if Host Monitor can summarize event data for a given time and export that data? I looking specifically for events that happen over night and would like to display this in the summary webpage when we show up in the morning. I thought about writing a script to check the telnet service but from what I can tell, the telnet service only tells you what's happening in real time.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how we can accomplish this?

Thanks

You may use Log Analyzer. Log Analyzer is a graphical tool that visualizes the log data. It parses the contents of a log file and presents the data as a variety of charts representing different test statistics. Log Analyzer may analyze all types of log files: HTML, Text, and DBF log files. In a second, administrator can get a snap shot of the host performance over a period of days or even months.

If my website is going to be on a linux/apache setup, how can I "call" the Log Analyzer to display this data or get the data from LA?

Thank you for your time.

Actually, Log Analyzer is designed to create reports, based on HostMonitor log files. You do not need to call it directly on Linux machine. Log Analyzer is able to generate reports into particular location. You may setup LogAnalyzer to generate report into certain file or folder, accessible by Appache on Linux machine, or by WebService, that is supplied with HostMonitor. LogAnalyzer support scripts, so you may setup it to generate reports on regular basis. Please, see the following article for details: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/la/index.htm#Scripts
