24hr Monitoring But Limited alerting

Post by CapQwerty »

We would like to be able to have some tests that are actually checked and logged on failures but are only alerted during business hours.

So if a server goes down over night and its not critical we can still see it happen but not wake anyone up. If however ther server was not back by say 7am then we would like alertiung to re-commence.

I have tried the alert profiles but it does not appear to alert if the error happens prior to the alert window

Any Suggestions

Regards

In "Action Profile" you can check "Time restriction: use schedule" with selecting time duration for alerting.
Ex. You selected send e-mail action with restricting time using standart schedule "Mondey - Friday, Day" (every day without weekend from 8:00am to 6:00pm). If some services were downed at 7:00pm you'll recieve e-mail message at 8:00am next day (or at 8:00am monday if it's weekend).

Could you explain your issue more clear? Do you want to receive an alert after restriction time if any allerts happend during restriction period?

Hi

I want to receive the alert if its still in alert status at the time the alert profile is active.

Dubolomov Your quote "If some services were downed at 7:00pm you'll recieve e-mail message at 8:00am next day (or at 8:00am monday if it's weekend)."

Does not work if the alert happens outside of the action profile schedule times then you will not get backdated alerts. Not that I want that in anycase.

I just want the ability if I set an Action Profile with a Time Restriction profile have Hostmon aware that at the time the schedule kicks in if something is in a status of Bad and has not been notified under that Schedule than it should send it out. This way we still get alerted from overnight failures and get to see when the problem appeared.

Thanks Jason

Sorry, HostMonitor does not provide option that you need.
I would recommend to use "on the schedule" actions to generate and send/publish "bad tests" report at specified time.
