Dear Hostmon,
I have been trying to create a report stating hostmon statistics (number of tests, sort of test average result good and bad etc) preferably per folder. I do not get a report like this and my management would like to see in a manager like report what hostmon is doing and would like to use this report to advertise the use of hostmon troughout the organisation. Any suggestions?
Regards,
Gerhard

Re: Report showing Hostmon statistics
I think you may use Custom HTML report: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... CustomHTMLGerhard wrote:I have been trying to create a report stating hostmon statistics (number of tests, sort of test average result good and bad etc) preferably per folder.
"Custom HTML report" is quite powerfull, it allows you to build everythin you want. You just should define your own HTML template using special macro variables and HostMonitor will generate HTML report using parameters of the tests and folders instead of macro variables. Please, take a look at the following examples: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/examples/custom1.htm
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/examples/custom2.htm
Actually, for such purposes, you may take the manual (manual.doc located in HostMonitor's folder) and delete some chaptersGerhard wrote:my management would like to see in a manager like report what hostmon is doing and would like to use this report to advertise the use of hostmon troughout the organisation.

Max,
The report for the management is to let them see that we can monitor all our systems in our network using hostmonitor. So the report i want is a report stating all the tests per folder (or the tests i want them to see).
Important is that i can split the report into folders (every system/application has it's own folder). Next to these test i want information about performed tests in a summary so i can advertise for example application 1 is alive 99% performance is ok etc
When i create this report every month i also want to see the statistics number of tests, number ok number bad (maybe in percentages). This so that they can see that when new system comes available it's almost immediately monitored in hostmon and growth of hostmon.
I will go on trying using your custom1.htm (it comes close to what want), and as you suggested i will also put some parts of the manual into this report. Reason: Our company is divided in different departments with their own IT and the management would like to see a standardization in IT services. Because i love the way hostmon works i will advertise the use of this tool for the monitoring AND reporting part. Unfortunately i am not very good in creating HTM reports with macro variables.

Gerhard

You may use "Custom Table&Stats" report profile as base for your own report. This report profile is included as example into installation package.I will go on trying using your custom1.htm (it comes close to what want), and as you suggested i will also put some parts of the manual into this report.

List of macro variables that you may use in "folder title"/"folder summary" sections of the report available at http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... ofiles.htm
