Sending alert mail problem

Post by foobs »

I'm getting the below error when any alerts are sent and it has been working previously. We use our sister companies Exchange 5.5 server and as far as they are concerned nothing has changed at their end.

Code: Select all

[13/02/2007 09:35:54] Open Error #10061 (-ERR Connection refused (Winsock error #10061))

Did you upgrade HostMonitor, updated system, install new software, apply hotfixes? What version of HostMonitor do you use? What Windows do you use? Service Pack? Do you have installed antivirus monitor? Personal firewall? Content monitoring software? Non-standard winsock components? Network packet analyzer?

Please verify, if proper settings are specified in "Options > Mailer Settings" tab.

Error means: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the foreign host.
Are you sure there are no firewall between systems? Also such error might be caused by antivirus. Symantec and McAfee real-time monitoring modules often leads to problems related to SMTP protocol, it even can crash HostMonitor. If you are unable to disable antivirus, we recommend at least to disable real-time protection module.
