Unknown Process, CPU and perf. counters

Post by Gerhard »

Dear all,

I need some assistence in a very strange issue. I use Hostmon 6.10 running as service on windows 2003 server. I currently have about 2000 tests for servers within the same domain using the same AD account which is added to the administrator group on all the servers.

Now 2 of the monitored servers, both 2003 servers, i get unknown result for the CPU, process and performance counter tests (other tests like disc space, services and wmi are doing fine). The CPU performance counter and process tests on other exactly the same servers are running fine.

I have been looking for hours on possible differences between the servers which accept the tests and the two who do not, but was not able to find anything. I hope somebody has a suggestion where to look or what the possible cause maybe.

Regards, Gerhard

Please make sure
1) RPC service is started on targetr systems
2) Remote Registry Service started on target system
3) PerfOS.DLL is enabled on target system
4) PerfProc.DLL is enabled on target system
5) Check if "admin" account has KEY_READ access to the following registry key on target system: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows_NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib.
To view/change permissions to the registry key you can use the registry editor utility (Regedt32.exe).

Microsoft provides "Extensible Counter List" utility: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
This utility displays list of DLLs that are used to support Performance Counters, using the utility you may disable/enable specific DLLs.

Max
