Do you see just "Connection error" message or there is an extended description, like "Connection error. Invalid argument supplied"?
What exact tests do show such error?

"Connection error" means - HostMonitor cannot establish TCP connection with the agent within specified timeout.

What timeout have your specified for the agent? There are two timeout values is used. One of them is specified by rma_cfg utility (on system where agent is running). Second is specified on HostMonitor's side in "Agent Connection Parameters" dialog.

Just "RMA connection error"

First timeout (rma_cfg) = 10
Second timeout(Agent Connection Parameters) = 60

Maybe if I increase the firt timeout to 60 , the problem will disappear

This will not help. There is some network or 3rd party software issue. E.g. Antivirus monitor or firewall drops TCP requests

Yes, you are right. Most of the firewalls drop the packets on regular basis, but some antiviruses (and firewalls too) may replace system DLLs or installs driver to intercept network packets, and it may lead to the problems. Just like Norton Antivirus and McAfee leads to problems when it checks SMTP traffic. Also it could be caused by some network problems.

To avoid "RMA connection error" messages, I would suggest you the following solution. You should setup TCP test to check RMA server and port, and make it the Master test for the other tests, that are performed by this certain RMA. In such case, if RMA server is unavailable (due to the network problem), the dependant tests will not be performed.

RMA supports any schedule. How many test items performed by this agent?
Looks like something wrong on your system. Sorry, I don't know what exactly. Its good to use some network packet analyzer (sniffer) to check what is going on in your network.

Try to execute following command: netsh winsock reset

It might help.

Most likely you have not specified address of the system (where HostMonitor is running) in "Accept connections from the following addresses" list (RMA settings). You may use rma_cfg.exe utility.

Hm. Strange. Such command should not lead to any problems.

I am new to RMA. I had the same error when trying to manage the RMA host with RMA Manager. I added the remote management computer's IP to the RMA host, but kept getting that "cannot read data" error. I decided to Stop and Start the RMA service on the remote computer. Now it works fine. If that is a requirement in the instructions, I missed it. Anyway, hope this helps someone down the road.

RMA Rocks, by the way!! Thanks for an awesome product, Alex!
