DNS TCP test

Post by tvanscot »

HI,

I am trying to do a DNS test, if I setup a DNS test using UDP on port 53 it works. If I try to do a DNS test using TCP on port 53 it times out.

I do believe that the DNS servers are responding to TCP requests. I verfied this by using dnsstuff.com's dns report function and I also used nslookup (using a the "set vc") from the same system that host monitor is installed on.

I am using version 3.71

Thanks for any help.

May we access your DNS server for testing?

As I see DNS server accepts TCP connection but it does not respond to DNS query. HostMonitor connects to the server, sends request but does not receive any reply.
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsrepor ... aychex.com checks for TCP connection that works fine but it does not check for DNS reply.
I am not sure how exacly works "nslookup -set vc"
