Hostmonitor 6.04 and Home Folders

Post by batcheson »

I just upgraded to Hostmonitor 6.04 and added a Home Folder to an Operator Account. Now, my Admin account which is set to see all Folders will switch to displaying only the Home Folder of the Opertor Account I set to display that folder. When I first load the Web Monitor for the Admin account, it displays fine, but then after a screen refresh or two, it will switch to displaying just the one folder that I set for the other account. To fix it I have to close the browser and relog back in. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks.....

We published Beta version and wait 1 month to collect all bug reports before making release. Why you did not send this report before?

We cannot reproduce this problem. Could you send *.LST and *.INI files to support@ks-soft.net?

Home Folder

Sorry, but I didn't send a report before because you just released this version today... And thus I installed it today or I would have found the bug before. If you mean why didn't I find the problem with the beta version, well I'm not a beta tester and if I'm caught using beta software in our production environment and an issue arrises, I could be looking for a new job.

As a side note, it seems to do this when two people are using the web interface under different accounts at the same time... A few screen refreshes after one of the individuals get in, not sure if I have to wait until the get out or not, the first person to get in will start only seeing the home folder of the second person to get in.

We release Beta versions so people can try it on test machines without removing production software. If nobody uses Beta versions, there are no reasons to make such versions.
You did not try Beta version -> we did not receive bug report -> now you have bug in production environment.

Bug

Post by batcheson »

I'm sorry, this started out as a simple problem with the application that I took a friendly approach to let you know about. When I purchase a product, I EXPECT that it WORK. If you want me to test your product, I'd be happy to become a paid employee.

I was not in any way putting any blame on you for the bug, but I WILL NOT be the person to blame that you could not release a bug free application. I work for a very large hospital system that is in about every US State and am in touch which a large amount of IT Professionals and up until this point I was a very satisfied customer with your product and have recommended it to many people. This could however change.

I can't fathom to believe how reporting an issue with a released product could turn into a finger pointing match as to who is responsible.

We are testing software 24/7 but we cannot test it using exactly the same hardware and software configuration you have. This means from time to time we will make a mistake, of course this is our fault but it is inevitable  Its up to you where you want to see result of that mistake - on test system or on production host.

I did not say you are responsible for this problem. Obviously it is our mistake and we will fix it as soon as possible (we have not reproduced this problem yet). I just believe that using Beta version is better for everybody.
