Problem with process test in 6.03 version.

Post by Tristan »

I'm having trouble with 'process tests' on local computer after the 6.03 update ................ it was working fine with 6.02.

I'm using windows 2003 server with all service packs etc.

the 6.03 download is only the hostmon.exe file and when I start with 6.03 the process tests shows status unknown. When I close the program and start my 6.02 .exe file the problem is not there. the tests from remote RMA processes is ok.

The reply field is emty.

When I do try to set up a new prcess test it can't find the precesses that are running on the local computer. there is only 'ntvdm' in the field before 'are running'. when I do this on the 6.02 all the processes that are running is showing up.

We cannot reproduce this problem. May be you are running version 6.03 in service mode while using version 6.02 in application mode?

Could you try this version www.ks-soft.net/download/hm603std.zip
It uses old memory manager, just like version 6.02

This version is working fine. And I run both in application mode. And I did switch back to the trouble one again and the problem came back. I have 2GB of memory on the server.

Very strange, I cannot explain this
We was ready to release version 6.08, but now we have to release version 6.04 (using old memory manager) and make version 6.08 Beta using new memory manager.
If anyone has the same problem please report to us

I can partly confirm this with 6.08 Beta.

Chapter 1:
If I set up a new process test using HostMonitor in 'Test By' field HostMonitor suggests ntvdm in the drop down. Opening the drop down reveals an empty list. However, closing and reopening the drop down fixes the problem. Sometimes the drop down opens empty but then seems to get populated within half a second without my interaction.

Chapter 2 (four minutes later):
Hmm ... strange. By now I'm no longer able to get anything in the drop down at all.
Shutting down HM and starting it again doesn't bring anything to the drop down.

Chapter 3 (two minutes later):
And now (2 minutes later) the drop down opens populated every time.

Hard to reproduce anything here

PS - Running on dual Xeon 2.8 GHz with HT enabled.

H'm... very strange.
We have tested HM on dual processor systems but we did not test software on hyper-threading processors :(
Looks like we need some more hardware...

Alex,

After upgrading to HM 4.08 I´m facing a problem with process check test in another windows machine on the same network. This test was working fine but now HM does not show any process name in the "...are running" drop down box....

What CPU and Windows is installed on your system? Hyper-threading is supported and enabled?
Version 6.04 works fine?

Alex,

I´m using Windows 2003 server on a DELL 750 with P4 3,2 with HT enable.

It was working fine with 6.2, have not tested with 6.04.

Just setup a CPU USAGE test on the machine running HM and it works fine.

Yes, CPU usage test performed by HostMonitor itself works fine with 6.08 Beta on dual HT-enabled system.
