Service sensors on RMA agent stopped working

Post by tristanx »

Hi there,

I'm having a problem with service sensors running off an RMA agent. Here's what's going on...

I've been monitoring an off-site location using an RMA agent for a few weeks now without incident. I am monitoring a few computers with simple ping and smtp sensors, and I also have three service sensors running - one is monitoring a service that is on the computer that the RMA agent is installed on, and the other two tests are monitoring services running on other computers.

Everything was working perfectly until I changed the administrator password of the domain on that network. Now, only the test monitoring the service on the computer that the RMA agent is installed on still works. The other two service tests give me an "RMA: 301 - Access is denied" reply. Also, all other sensors (ping, smtp, etc) work fine. It's just these two service sensors that have stopped working since I changed the administrator password on the domain.

I have changed the password that the service sensors use in the "Connect as" section of the test properties, as well as in the action properties for the service restart action that I have set up for the tests. So these tests should not have a problem logging in to these computers to monitor the services. When looking at the test properties, it won't even show me a list of services running on the computer. It says "Error 301 Cannot retrieve information".

I am running the 6.00 beta of host monitor. The RMA agent at the off-site network was installed from the 5.92 package, and it worked fine after I upgraded our Hostmonitor application to 6. To troubleshoot, I uninstalled the RMA agent and reinstalled it from the 6.00 package, but it made no difference.

Can anyone offer any ideas as to why these service tests will suddenly not work? What exactly does the "RMA: 301 - Access is denied" reply indicate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If RMA is running as service, you should provide new domain admin password for the RMA service (Control Panel->Services->"KS Remote Monitoring Agent"->Properties->"Log on")

Max,

I'm very impressed with your response time! I only had to wait a few minutes to receive a reply that actually solved my problem. Thank you very much.

The support team for the monitoring software that I evaluated prior to buy HostMonitor took days, sometimes even a week or two, to reply to my queries, and they were never able to provide clear, concise answers. So this is a breath of fresh air that makes me even happier with my purchase decision.
