Login to Web Server fails

Post by thomasschmeidl »

AHM 5.92 and AHM Web service run on w2003 Server as a service.

It is possible to login to the web server from any client.

After editing the users list (adding some users/operators) I cannot login to the web server any more (credentials are not accepted). After resetting the user.lst to the original file supplied with the installation everything works fine again.

Any idea?

Thomas

OK - I did some more trials and found out what causes the behaviour:

When editing the users I changed the IP-Range in the "accept remote connections from ..." pan.
The server (on which host monitor and the web service is running) has the adress 10.50.20.45. The client has 10.50.20.30. Web service is accessible when "accept remote connections" is set to 127.0.0.1. But when when I set the IP-Range to 10.50.0.0. - 10.50.255.255 (which is necessary to use the rcc) the web service won't be accesible (resp. the web service can't communicate to AHM).

Which settings the use of Web service AND rcc by ONE user?

I think in address 10.50.0.0. last dot should be deleted. Of course, you was able to make this mistake in forum post only, but it would be better to ensure.

Thank you for your reply

The mistake was made only in the forum
I checked it once more:

10.50.0.0 - 10.50.255.255 -> no web access
127.0.0.1 -> no rcc access
0.0.0.0 web access and rcc access (but that's not the setting I prefer)

If Web Service uses local interface (127.0.0.1) to work with HostMonitor, then you should add address 127.0.0.1 to the list.
In your case the list should have 2 items
[x] 10.50.0.0 - 10.50.255.255
[x] 127.0.0.1
