Win RMA Connecting but Cannot Read Data

Post by costigaj »

I am having a problem with a Win RMA agent.

The agent is installed on a Win 2003 server. I can successfully communicate with the RMA via the RMA Manager from another PC on the LAN and the connection is logged in the successful log file log1.txt

However, I can not reach it remotely through the firewall. The RMA shows the connection is accepted but is NOT logged to the successful log file, nor is it shown in the unsuccessful file. The message I get is Cannot Read Data.

The firewall is setup to allow access to and from the server and remote monitor node via the default port 1055. We have tried a fully open configuration where all ports are open to and from the server through the firewall and it does not work either.

The fact I can get to the RMA via the LAN tells me it’s firewalling issue. The firewall is set as a proxy inbound and outbound to the server running the RMA on Port 1055.

Here are some screen shots

Thanks for your suggestions and help.

Most likely you have typed wrong password (you have specified different passwords for the agent and for agent's record in RMA Manager).
Lets check the log (log1.txt, log2.txt files in RMA's directory)

Thanks for the reply. I checked the passwords to ensure they are the same.

The thing is that NOTHING is being logged, either in Log1 or Log2. They only show successful or bad connections if I connect from another PC on the LAN, but never remotely through the firewall.

If you see "Accepted" message on screen and there are no messages in log1 and log2 file, this means RMA has received TCP connection request but it has not received complette data request (from HostMonitor) within specified timeout.
Do you have any non-standard software installed on the system? Antivirus monitor? Personal firewall? Content monitoring software? Non-standard winsock components?
May be your firewall doesn't work correctly?

I already saw screen shots.
Most likelly its firewall issue, but there is small chance that problem relates to some other software

It was a firewall issue. Problem solved. All systems are monitoring correctly.

Thanks.
