Web Service URLs
Web Service URLs
We are looking to setup a website for clients that we monitor with Hostmon so they can access the results of their tests through the Web Service. I need them to be only access thier tests and not others. I have seen discussion about permissions that may be implemented in the future.
In the meantime when I use the dashboard web interface I noticed that there is a direct link that will point to a specific folder of tests. For example this URL points to a specific client:
http://1.1.1.1:82/tests.cgi?fid=31&chkmode=0
The fid= seems to be an internal method hostmon uses to access that specific folder. Is there a way for me to find out what fid number equals the folder name so I do not have to manually collect that by clicking on each folder to find the fid in the URL? This would save me a great deal of time.
Also is there a detailed description on the arguments that web service will accept (for example chkmode=0).
Where are the htm files stored. I can not find the file dashboard.htm referenced in the following URL anywhere: http://1.1.1.1:82/dashboard.htm
How does this work?
Finally, we very often have the dashboard laded and it is set to auto refresh. Very frequently it gets and error and the only way to get the sahboard up and running again is to close the web browser windows and open it again. Are there any settings where I could get this to be more reliable?
thanks,
tom

Re: Web Service URLs
I think, the Web service generates content on demand and returns it to you in real time. There are no stored html files.tdillon wrote: Where are the htm files stored. I can not find the file dashboard.htm referenced in the following URL anywhere: http://1.1.1.1:82/dashboard.htm

You should open Options window, RCI tab, and increase "Maximum simultaneous connections" parameter. It might help.tdillon wrote: Very frequently it gets and error and the only way to get the sahboard up and running again is to close the web browser windows and open it again. Right, it will be implemented in version 6.0We are looking to setup a website for clients that we monitor with Hostmon so they can access the results of their tests through the Web Service. Sorry, you have to do this manuallyThe fid= seems to be an internal method hostmon uses to access that specific folder. Is there a way for me to find out what fid number equals the folder name so I do not have to manually collect that by clicking on each folder to find the fid in the URL?
No, this is internal information, such parameters can be changed at any time. If you ask about some particular option, I can check the code and provide information. Also is there a detailed description on the arguments that web service will accept (for example chkmode=0).
CorrectI think, the Web service generates content on demand and returns it to you in real time. There are no stored html files.
What exactly error? Finally, we very often have the dashboard laded and it is set to auto refresh. Very frequently it gets and error

Here is the error:
Response from Hostmonitor's Web Service:
************************************************************
Error: Connection error
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Possible reasons:
- HostMonitor is not running
- RCI interface disabled
- HM Web Service configured incorrectly (wrong TCP Port or IP address)
- network problem
************************************************************
It might auto refresh 10 times before this happens. IS there a way to put the auto refresh code in this error message so if it just keeps trying to get back in?
thanks,
tom
