RCC timeout retrieving test list

Post by tdillon »

I am having trouble accessing the RCC. I have all the ports configured correctly, it makes a connection and then times out downloading the test list. Here is a copy of the log window:

[3/28/2006 7:40:10 AM] Connecting... Ok. TCP Connection established
[3/28/2006 7:40:10 AM] Authentication... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:10 AM] RCC handshake... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:11 AM] Retrieving palettes... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:11 AM] Retrieving reports... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:11 AM] Retrieving user profiles... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:11 AM] Retrieving user menus... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:11 AM] Retrieving scripts... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:11 AM] Retrieving schedules... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:12 AM] Retrieving action list... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:12 AM] Retrieving options... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:12 AM] Retrieving test list... Error: Request timed out
[3/28/2006 7:49:16 AM] Disconnecting... not connected

I am connecting to the Host Monitor interface over a VPN. The connection speed is a full T1. The test file is 9 MB.

I noticed on the RCC interface the max timeout seems to be 60 seconds (not enough to download the test list I think). I have tried increasing the timeout but I can see that wehn I hit the Connect biutton is changes back to 60 seconds.

thanks

tom

H'm.. it looks like connection lost
[3/28/2006 7:40:12 AM] Retrieving options... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:12 AM] Retrieving test list... Error: Request timed out
There is no 60 sec interval between events.

What version of HostMonitor, RCC do you use? Can you establish connection from system in local network without problems?

Could you try to start RCC on the same system and connect to HostMonitor?

That does work. I am using two different terminal Server sessions to test. But the RCC does load properly

I was wrong about this timestamp
[3/28/2006 7:40:12 AM] Retrieving options... Ok
[3/28/2006 7:40:12 AM] Retrieving test list... Error: Request timed out
RCC requested for test list at 7:40:12 but I don't know when error happen because RCC does not show time of the error.
Is that really 60 sec before error message? In such case we can modify RCC to allow longer interval...

Yes, the timeout error comes up 60 seconds after the 'retieveing test list" line item.

When I copy the file through Windows explorer it takes just over 75 seconds to transfer. If you have to modify rcc.exe I would make the default at least 300 seconds just to be sure.

thanks!

That took us 1 step further. The program now loads but hangs and never really becomes responsive. I can see that it has my test list in it, but the windows won't resize, the status is not updating. overall just hung.

CPU Usage?
Can you send you settings for testing to support@ks-soft.net? We need all *.LST, *.INI files + HML file with tests
