When I have an alert with two pager numbers being dialed by the modem, about 50% of the time the status window says a pager is busy (vs. com port busy which is expected on one) but I get the page within seconds. Hostmonitor then starts the second number because the COM port is free and sometimes that also says the pager is busy. Sometimes a test will send both successful right away and sometimes they will alternate saying busy and send many pages until hostmonitor thinks it's successful.
How does Hostmonitor determine that a pager number is busy when it is connecting and sending the page?
For testing purposes, I did tell Hostmonitor to not resend if modem was busy. Then the test initiated the first page and second one said modem busy and disappeared as expected. But, I never received a busy message on the one message it was sending. I was never able to do this, even on the first page, when the option for resending was checked.
I'm using version 5.70 on Windows 2000 server
Thanks.
Pager alert busy about 50% of the time
Error
The exact message is:
Call Failed - BUSY. Completed: 0 of 1
Releasing COM port .. OK
Error: Call Failed - BUSY. Completed 0 of 1
Next attempt to send message will be made in 15 sec
I am using the "Send message to numeric pager" alert.
I had thought that unchecking the resend option in pager options made a difference but eventually a page did come back as busy (but I did receive it).
Not sure if you've caught this yet but in the pager options, you have the resend in minutes but it's actually seconds.
