see answers below. If I had to guess, I'd say the windows 2008 servers are having more trouble than the 2003 servers. Hoping to monitor security events to help troubleshoot locked out accounts. Windows timeout for RPC calls shorter than 15 min. If you see "Timed out" reply for NT Event Log...

Is the 15 min. timeout adjustable somewhere ? I'm thinking there are too many log events for hostmonitor to deal with in 15 mins, hoping to give the test more time to complete. Thanks. Dave This is HostMonitor's timeout, means test cannot provide any results within 15 min. Its strange because HostMo...

Really hoping to use IP addresses and the replicator to make tests for a whole subnet.

Can I do ping test and pull in snmp oid value into comment field ?...or does this need to be accomplished with two tests ?

Thanks again.

can Ping test resolve host name ?

Hoping to do a ping test using an ip address and have HostMonitor put the DNS hostname in the comment field...is this possible ?
Can this be accomplished with a macro or script ?

Thanks in advance.

I wish it was as simple as starting the service, but it's not listed as a service (that's the whole problem here) and i don't know how to install it.
It is completely missing from the list of services.
Do you know how to install the telephony service when it is missing completely from services list ?

HostMonitor 7.74 on windows server 2003 Enterprise SP1. I guess the server people didn't install that service when they built the server ?...i'll check with them. I was really hoping there was a way to launch the service without the Tapi services. Hostmonitor launches fine from the desktop icon, jus...

Yet I can start HostMonitor without issues from the desktop.

Thanks for the help.

"Shell Script" method worked great.

'DHCP test' still no go, even if i use my current local IP in the 'request ip' input box. (very odd).

DHCP

Sorry if this has been covered before, but i cannot get DHCP test to work. I enter the host of ip of the dhcp server, timeout 5000, request ip ='current local ip', and i get status of 'no answer'. If i download your dhcpcheck.exe and test it manually from command prompt, i get 'Host is alive: 14 ms'...

What version of HostMonitor do you use? The latest download trial version. May we have read-only access to your Motorola Canopy? They are all on private ip's...will look into setting one up on public ip for you to play (need time to do this). If one SM comes online then another SM comes on-line and...

May be HostMonitor shows traffic using Kbit/sec while you want to see KB/sec? I just changed it to 'Mbit/sec' and it's reporting 0.12Mb...meanwhile the link is averaging about 1.2Mb/s. I'm not sure if it's off by a factor of 8 or 10....but it appears to be wrong. It depends on how exactly you are u...
