Problem with "DNS test" using TCP

Post by mrw »

Hi,

I´m monitoring some public DNS-servers and one test is ofcourse the "DNS test" that queries the DNS directly and gives the reply. Previously I have only tested this using UDP/53 for a A-record on the DNS.
But when I switch to TCP/53 I get a timeout.

And as far as we have tested the DNS-server do indeed reply when using TCP. One test is to use the dig command "dig +tcp @<nameserver to use> <host to lookup>".
When we run this we get correct answers, but the Hostmon test still fails.

Could there be a problem with this test perhaps?

Thanks in advance,
//Andreas..
