NT Event Log tests not working after upgrade

Post by kalkulationsmaschine »

I upgraded hostmon from version 7.10 to 7.78 today.
After upgrading all tests are working fine except "NT Event Log" tests.
I get reply: RMA 500 - Unknown command

I also tried to upgrade/redeploy the RMA. No success (current version 3.64)

Then I tried to add a completely new NT Event Log test (tested by Hostmon itself). Then I get following message as reply: System Error. Code: 1722

Are you sure rma is updated? Could you verify it once more? You may copy agent manually from \RMA-Win\ subfolder to remote systems or you may use RMA Manager to update all installed RMA agents at once http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/rma- ... ow_upgrade

According to the Microsoft, error 1722 means "The RPC server is unavailable". Please ensure RPC service is started on target machine.

That's because you have not updated RMA.

Actually current version of the agent is 3.85
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/rma-win/index.htm
This version comes with HostMonitor 7.78. Installation program updated RMA on local system. Please use RMA Manager to update agents on remote systems

Then I tried to add a completely new NT Event Log test (tested by Hostmon itself). Then I get following message as reply: System Error. Code: 1722
I assume you forgot to specify agent for this test, so test it performed by HostMonitor directly that does not have access to remote network.

Yes you 're right. I deployed the RMA using the RMA manager (I chose the file in the rma-win folder of the updated hostmon installation). I thought all files are updated but unfortunately the RMA files are not updated by installing Hostmon 7.78 automatically, so I redeployed the version from 7.10 only...

In the meantime I installed the RMA from the installation host-mon.exe directly. Now I have the newest version 3.85.
It works!

Thank you!

I don't need to monitor the hostmon server directly, so it's not important for me, but just interesting. The RPC Service is already running and I get the error further on. Are there any additional things to check?

Just to make sure. I configured the test already to perform the test by hostmon directly (not by an agent). Therefore I think the issue is localized on the hostmon server directly.

....and I entered the IP adress of the hostmon server itself. (Parameter "Computer (UNC)": \\123.123.123.123

Additional info for parameter "Computer (UNC)":
IP of hostmon server like \\123.123.123.123 doesn't work.
Hostname like \\hostmonserver works correctly.

... so it works now, thank you!

H'm.. may be firewall issue? I assume if you specify target host as \\127.0.0.1, test is working?
