RMA Agent IP Error

Hi,

I have an agent on a RedHat Server, with works fine in the RMA Manager.

I get this connection error when trying to use the "Text Log" test with the agent - file browse:

"RMA Error: Cannot resolve hostname to IP address. The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but does not have the correct associated data being resolved for."

Now, If I replace the FQHN in the RMA Manager with the IP address, it works, and after the file is selected, I can replace the IP with the hostname and the test works.

From the HostMonitor server, I can ping and lookup the IP with the hostname.

Looks like some DNS issues. RMA uses gethostbyname function and it seems an MX record is returned but no A record—indicating the host itself exists, but is not directly reachable.

Well, the dns should be alright, in the RMA.ini I have set Host=pai13001-1.cwuk.a.p wich is the full (unique) dns name. This is available and resolveable and nslookup and ping from the hostmonitor is ok.

The Host=is set because the Linux machine running the RMA has 2 NICs.

Message "RMA Error: Cannot resolve hostname to IP address..." means that host name cannot be resolved on the machine, where RMA is running, not HostMonitor. Why it can not resolve its own name? Interesting question.

Probably, it would be better to specify IP-address instead of hostname, like: Host=192.168.xxx.xxx
