Alex:
I just upgraded from 5.64Beta to 5.70
But now, when I attempt to start HostMon, the first part of the
initialization fails ("Self test...") and I get a hostmon dialog box saying "Program file is corrupt!"
I tried re-downloading (from second download site) and re-installing but this did not help.
Have I shot myself in the foot?
Help!

H'm, we have more than 9,000 downloads since December 14 (version 5.70). I just downloaded distributive by myself and compared to our archive - no difference.
Also I installed it, HostMonitor passed self test without any error.
Interesting...
What link have you used? http://www.hostmonitor.biz/download/host-mon.exe?
What CPU do you have installed on your system?
Regards
Alex

Alex:
Yes, I've tried downloading the package from both "Link 1" and "Link 2" - no difference. I don't think it's the download itself that's corrupted.
After I went backwards to ver 5.66 and got that working, I tried re-downloading and re-installing 5.70 but still have the same problem. I ended up returning once again to version 5.66
Here is system summary info...
The system has two physical hard drives (36GB SCSI). HostMon is installed on the "D:" drive. The "C:" drive has 21GB free and the "D:" drive has 32 GB free.
Just FYI, this box is not running anything other than HostMon (well, there is all that junk associated with the Win2K OS but...)
It's got all the latest Windows OS patches and all the firmware (BIOS, etc...) is up to date.
I'm thinking the next step my be a total uninstall and then re-install. What do you think??
One more piece of information that may (or may not) be relevant. The reason I was upgrading is that we had been experiencing what appeared to be a memory leak under v5.64beta. Specifically, after running 3-4 days in a row, suddenly the NICs would stop responding. Attempts to start any program from the console resulted in a "not enough resources" error message. The final error in the event log was EvID 2019 -- "The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty." Rebooting the server fixed the problem until the next time.
Thanks! Tim

I have same identical problem too.
5.70 was downloaded from the two links suggested then from your link in this thread.
Current version is 5.66 after upgrading it to 5.70 I get a hostmon dialog box saying "Program file is corrupt!"
I installed it on my notebook HP Omnibook 6100 PIII 1000 (I use it for this kind of tests before install new sw releases on production pc) here where there was 5.66 and I get the error after upgrade. Fortunately I have not upgraded my monitoring workstation too...
I also uninstalled everithing (HM) and reinstalled a fresh copy of HM 5.70 but with the same error at startup.
Now I went back to ver 5.66: it works fine.
Help please !!

1) I don't think this problem relates to anything except CPU.
BIOS, Hard Drives, OS should not be a reason.
H'm... looks like PIII could produce different result than Pentium 4 (where distributive was compiled) on some arithmetic operations
Could you try this update: www.ks-soft.net/download/hm571c.zip I changed (simplified) CRC check.
2)
Do you check Netware servers?

Alex

This is Intel Pentium III, right? So, in both cases we have PIII.x86 Family 6 Model 11 Stepping 1

If you have to reboot entire server (HostMonitor reloading does not help), it means resource leakage is not in HostMonitor or some system DLL used by HostMonitor. Problem is in some other component. E.g. network driver or network client. This means update will not help youOne more piece of information that may (or may not) be relevant. Now it works!!
Very good, the new 5.71 works fine.
You are right, we have Pentium III.
Thanks for your help.
Any time that I contact support center, I convince more and more that the HM is an excellent product with an excellent servicing.
Best Regards
Tiziano
