Finaly found why Hostmon would not start (what is the fix)

Post by colstripcom »

After not being able to use hostmon for the last month I have found out why. When Iwould attempt to start the program it would start and then crash right away. Today I dumped the whole program moved all logs and reports reinstalled and it worked. as soon as I moved our old log.htm file back it crashed. The log.htm is over 2 gigs, this seems to be what is crashing HM. has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix. I log everything. I use this data for trends. most of my data is traffic across our fiber links and I want to be able to trend this traffic so I log it ever 5 seconds. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve

What version of HostMonitor do you use?
I think you may use "Automatically change the log every month" or "Automatically change the log every week" option to reduce size of the log.

I just tested HostMonitor with big HTML and then with Text log (2.5 GB each), cannot reproduce crash. What type of the log do you use? DBF?

HostMonitor just executes SQL query. How big table could be depends on SQL server
