Database response test timeouts

We have a serious problem with one of our databases (Oracle) just hanging. The built in Oracle and other database tests do not have any settings for timeouts. I feel this would be very useful because you could then report on average times to respond to a database login.
When the database fails to respond, Hostmon cannot report the problem because the test just hangs as well and shows the hourglass
Is is possible to include Database response timeouts please?
