Hi,
I'm having a problem with performance monitor tests on a server. Completely at random, all the performance monitor tests on the server (Disk Time, Terminal Services sessions, and bytes sent and bytes received on the NIC) return a status of "Unknown" and the reply field says "Error: The Requested Resource is in Use". Restarting hostmon fixes the problem.
All other perfmon tests on other hosts work great and have no problems. Also, this was originally happening on one server (a Win2K DC); however, we recently installed a new server (Win2K3), and now the problem is happening on THIS server, and server #1 works fine.
The same tests work fine in perfmon when hostmon is having this problem.
Error: The Requested Resource is in Use
Some problem with PDH.DLL. When pdh.dll reports error, often it continues to report this error until reload.
Unfortunatelly application (HostMonitor or RMA in our case) cannot reload DLL immediately because Windows requires 10 min timeout.
I think "External" mode should help to avoid this problem. Option located on Miscellaneous page in the Options dialog. If you are using Remote Monitoring Agent to perform these tests, you should modify rma.ini file
