SMTP, HTTP, and POP3 test failures

Post by MailPort »

I just upgraded form HM 4.62 to 4.70 this evening. 4.62 was having an issue when connecting to one POP3 server so I thought upgrading would fix it. After the upgrade all HTTP, POP3, and SMTP test have failed with either - Status:Bad - Reply:Timed-Out.

I tried to delete a few of the tests and recreate them thinking this would help as I had this problem with 4.62, but it did not help. I am currently monitoring over 1,500 services that relate to POP3, SMTP, and HTTP. Nothing else...

The machine that HM is on is a WIN2K Advanced Server with SP4. This machine does not run IIS or any other services but HM.

Do you have Norton Antivirus installed on the system?

This Machine does not run anything but HM.

HM is the ony program that runs. It runs under the admin. account, starts as a service.

I have been using it for over a year and like I said in my original post I was only having an issue with one of the POP3 service tests until the upgrade.

We did not change anything related to the tests in version 4.70.
Can we try to check the same hosts you do? Servers available from Internet?

Yes, you may check the hosts.

I sent you an email outline. They are all accessable form the internet.

Thank you...

Just tested on 2 W2K SP4 systems. SMTP and HTTP tests works fine, POP3 returns "Bad" status because I don't know passwords.
May be some firewall in your network doesn't work correctly? Could you try to connect to the servers using some other software, e.g. Internet Explorer?
Could you try to stop service and start HostMonitor as application? Restart server?
