CPU test modifications...

Post by Rapthor »

Hi!
I have setted up some tests that survey the cpu performances of some servers. How do I have to configure the test so that an alert is triggered only if CPU usage is at least 5 minutes over a certain value (e.g. 80%)?
I think if I test every 5 minutes it will not be the same as I actually want to get.
Clear what I want? :) Thanks for replying

I'm not sure this is what Alex would recommend but one way to accomplish this would be:
  1. Set up the test to run once per minute, setting your 'bad' threshold to 80% or greater.
  2. Under "alerts" "configure" "action profiles" edit your action profile for this alert and under "condition to start action", specify "Start when 5 consecutive 'bad' results occur
Thus, this alert will only be triggered after 5 consecutive "bad' tests - i.e. the test has failed for five minutes.

Thank you very much. This seems to be a a very good solution!

But if Alex has something to add he will be welcome! :D
