X64 RMA on Mint - continued

Post by david.matthewson »

As per my previous posts on this, I got it installed and running and I can 'see' it from a Windows server running HostMonitor. (see attached pics)

But Hostmonitor itself does not allow me to select 'RMA' as 'Test using' as it is greyed out.

I've checked that the script files on the Linux box are set to executable.

The RMA is currently unlicensed but I would have thought it would not stop it working for a test.

I get the same result if HostMon is running as a service or executable.

Any thoughts please?

Hmm... I can't u/l the png images to the forum - I get:

Error

Could not upload attachment to ./files/3074_4b8e3d4cb1a179da88ec1bf9f51131bb.

If no errors detected by Auditing Tool (menu View), please send config files to us (by e-mail).
.HML file + *.LST files

It can be disabled if you do not use any agent for the test yet and your license does not allow to use agents.
If you want to try agents without purchasing license, use HostMonitor in evaluation mode without any license (on non-production system)

Thanks Alex - I'll try an eval version tomorrow.

and audit tool just suggests my RMA password is a bit weak - which it is.

Update...

OK, Installed the current version of HM 14.96 as an eval on a W2019 server.

Set the RMA_Manger on the W2019 box to 'look at' the Linux Mint box.

The RMA 'see's it and can pull back the config - same as with the licenced version.

I also get the same 'no rights' error msgs in the RMA_Manager...;{

But, I can now select 'Test using' RMA in HostMon (!) via the previously greyed pull down.

I can also set up the RMA on the Linux box to do tests like CPU & Count Files, so that is good.

Lesson learnt - the RMA Manager and hostMon appear *both* to need to licenced - even for an eval, just having a licenced version of HM will not work.

Thanks again to Alex for his help.

Not exactly. Evaluation (non licensed) version allows to work with all components: RMA, RCC, Web Service, etc.
But if you are using license that does not include some options (like RMA or Web Service), then yes, you cannot use these options.
I also get the same 'no rights' error msgs in the RMA_Manager...;{
Probably I missed some e-mail from you? When and why do you see this error message?
