Dell iDRAC monitoring

Post by jordydk »

Hello,

I have a question, is it possible to read some things from the physical Dell servers?

I would like to know if, for example, the power supply failed or the fans continue to run for too long at too high speeds or what the temperature is.

Is this already in host monitor by any chance?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Alex,

I was to try this to work, but when I press on the IPMI icon in the test, I get the following error:

Cannot open IPMI session. Cannot read data
Would you like to change connection settings, set password?

But I have add the credentials to connect.

Can this someting that is blocking in the Firewall?

Or what can I check?

In the reply, I have the following error:
Cannot read data. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. (session)

Firewall on target system cannot block IPMI. But some other firewall on the router or HostMonitor system can.
Or what can I check?
1st check if IPMI is enabled on the server. Check IPMI parameters, port, list of enabled ciphers.
Cannot read data. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. (session)
Sounds like IPMI is not supported or you are using wrong port.

PS
Beside IPMI related tests (implemented in version 12) we plan to implement test methods based on Redfish protocol, these tests should be compatible with modern Dell servers as well.
We created test application that may retrieve various information using Redfish protocol.
Would you like to try it, check if it works with your systems? Please contact as by e-mail

Regards
Alex
