Hostmonitor RCC has gone weird? Cannot Read Data

Post by lowbug »

Hi, We are getting a "Cannot Read Data" error when our RCC clients are accessing the main HM machine? We have even rebuilt a brand new machine - reinstalled HM etc and still we have this issue. We have gone back to previous backups but still the issue exists?

I am unsure even though we have 86 backups if the damage is prior to this?

HM version is 6.54

Hi, Found a 2016 testlist, we loaded that and it works. Can HML files be repaired?

Further update. When the RCC logs in all the section report as "OK", Retrieving palettes...OK Retrieving Reports.... OK

Retrieving user profiles.... Error: Hostmonitor..

Retrieving user profiles.... Error: Error: HostMonitor response: No Rights. < Unsure on this error

Increasing the timeout to 30 seconds seemed to help access? Maybe the testlist was too big for RCC to pull down?

HM 6.54
Its 10 years old, we do not support it.

Start HostMonitor GUI (not RCC) and load your recent HML file (test list).
- No errors? Then file is not damaged.
- Errors? What exactly errors?
Retrieving user profiles.... Error: Error: HostMonitor response: No Rights
Please check operator permissions and home folder using HostMonitor menu User->Operators.
(e.g. if you setup some Home Folder for operator then operator will have access to this folder only (plus subfolders) in this HML file. If you remove folder or create new file, then you have to adjust Home Folder, otherwise user will have no access).

May be, however this does not explain "no rights" error.
"Cannot read data" - yes, this one looks like timeout problem.

Hi,

Looking at it, I don't think the file is damaged in any way. I think its the timeout as you said if it can load in the main HM software then it must work and it does.

The users - Operators have access to all HML files. Thats the issue now :)
