for AHM, I want to share my experience.
The main reason for using this modem is the ability to use the ethernet modem for more than only AHM.
In our case we use this device also for sending SMS via Mail.
Also the alternative to use for a external antenna outside the server room via the SMA connector is helpful.
First you have to setup your Device for Network funktionality described at
http://www.multitech.com/DOCUMENTS/Coll ... 00375F.pdf
starting on Page 22.
Open a Webbrowser and connect to your Network Modem set the appropriate IP Adress and DHCP settings for you Network.
After the general Configuration the Auto Dial Configuration must be canged:
Raw dialout mode must be enabled and the the Autodialout login has to bis diasbled ensure that the Autodialout port is at 5000
Submit the config changes!
Then go to the PPP Tab and change the configuration for PPP:
disable PPP under the PPP General Options.
Submit the config changes and save the changes with the save and restart tab!
After this you have to install a Port Redirector for your AHM-OS. In our case we use the
WinMCSI™ Workstation Redirectors for Windows 2000/XP from Multitech.
It work fine for Windows Server 2003 SP2
you can download it at
ftp://ftp.multitech.com/mts-software/ra ... xp_105.exe
You have to install the software to your OS described at:
http://www.multitech.com/DOCUMENTS/Coll ... 00361A.pdf
You do not need to enter a Login User and a Password when you are asked to. At the next Screen you are able to setup the redirection of your serial communication from a free COM Port to the network Modem.
Choose a unused COM-Port on your AHM-OS switch from Auto-Discovery(MAG) to Direct type in the ServerName or IP-Adress of your network modem and switch from Telnet mode to RAW Mode an enter the Port.No 5000
Click the Add button and leave this screen with done. After this you have to restart your AHM-OS.
Finaly you have to configure the SMS GSM Options in AHM. We choose the old Nokia 6210 Modem Type.
Setup the appropriate redirected COM-Port, Baud rate Modem Type
and surprise surpise it worked....
