Option to "move hm window" on taskbar

Post by Robert_in_MTL »

Hi again...

I am using Remote Desktop from my house at night and on week-ends to my office computer which has 3 screens.

If HM is on screen #2 or #3, I can't bring it to my view...
If I right-click on the task bar on the HM tab, there is no "move" like the other programs, all I get is "restore" "minimise" and "close".

Is this a thing that you can control and add?

If not, can you make RCC pop up on the screen where the focus is instead of remembering the last position?

Thanks for your time.

H'm  If there is no active window on desktop (its possible situation), where is the focus?
May be we can add command line parameters, like -topcoordinate:nnn -leftcoordinate:yyy. Will it work for you?

Maybe:
If there is no active window on desktop (its possible situation), where is the focus?
I start HM RCC from either the Start Menu or a shorcut on the desktop, so the focus would be there.
May be we can add command line parameters, like -topcoordinate:nnn -leftcoordinate:yyy. Will it work for you?
If I could put it in the shortcut, it would work I guess.

Maybe simply pop HM on the screen (where the mouse is) would work... If you can do this.

Of all options, I would prefer the simplest, without parameters if possible.

Thanks.

I start HM RCC from either the Start Menu or a shorcut on the desktop, so the focus would be there.
You have to determine screen with focus before HostMonitor activates its own window. Otherwise task does not have any sense.
Do you mean start menu will have the focus? H'm... not sure. Have to read some manuals.
Maybe simply pop HM on the screen (where the mouse is) would work... If you can do this.
Its possible but I don't like this idea. Not everybody cares about mouse position at program startup.
Of all options, I would prefer the simplest, without parameters if possible.
Simplest option for you may require more time for development. We can implement command line parameters tomorrow, another option may need a year (this is low priority task).
What other options do you see?

hummm

If the parameters are optional and if I could add them to the command line in the shortcut, that would solve my problem, especially if it is easier for you.

Thanks

Done. Update available at www.ks-soft.net/download/rcc206.zip
Please install Advanced Host Monitor 6.80 before using this update

PS Sure, parameters are optional

Wow already done!?!
...And it works great!!!

I found the settings in the advanced settings of the RCC login window.
Once more, I am impressed.

Thanks Alex!

Hummm.

Now it pops up on the screen #1 even if I closed it on screen #2.

I also tested it via terminal services.

It seems I was lucky or it was pure coincidence...

Maybe the X~Y positions should be there in the RCC connection GUI also (...kind of: Main RCC window position settings)... same style as the popup settings, would be more simple right?

How GUI options can help you if you cannot see GUI located on different screen?
Please use command line parameters

I probably made my self unclear, sorry,

Maybe I was lucky there too, but the login window always seems to popup correctly, It is the main RCC window that was out of sight so if I could set the Main window position I should be good

I am not pushing, but I guess you could add this option too on the login GUI.

(Maybe the X~Y positions should be there in the RCC connection GUI also (...kind of: Main RCC window position settings)... same style as the popup settings, would be more simple right?)

Thank you for putting it in your task list.

If I get to make the login window pop in the right screen but HM starts in the wrong one...
...my problem would not be solved because there is no "move" option on the RCC tab in the taskbar... :(

I will use it quite regularly and I will tell you if it happens again that HM pops in an other screen.

Thanks.

I am confused. I thought we was talking about RCC, so we implemented new options for RCC. Now you need similar options for HostMonitor?

So sorry, I meant RCC...

Login window pops OK, but after login, RCC appears on last screen where it was closed, this is the problem. This is the window that would need screen coordinates in the login window's "more options" tab

Sorry again, my mistake.
