Does the popup registration reminder impact monitoring?

Post by Dennis Kane »

When the popup reminder comes up it appears I have to wait for it to run and then shut it down before I can do anything else with AHM. If I am not at the system the reminder stays open on the system.

I am running AHM as a service during the eval and notice gaps in the monitoring. Is it possible the popup is impacting the monitoring and logging of data?

Yes, HostMonitor pauses monitoring until you close registration window.

This is disappointing.

Nowhere in the documentation have I seen this limitation mentioned. It took some digging to find this post.

I like what I've seen of the software so far, but how can I fully test the evaluation version with this limitation? How can I be sure the software will be stable running unattended for long periods of time when I have to touch it every few hours?

I guess you can be assured by the thousands of satisfied customers, like me, who operate HM for many months, and with a total of almost 2,000 tests, without any need of restart or unexpected crashes

No way.

Quote from manual:
If you are using HostMonitor with a license key that had been generated illegally or using a cracked version of HostMonitor, the program will become unstable causing frequent software problems and crashes.

Advanced Host Monitor comes with a 30 days trial period. During these 30 days Advanced Host Monitor is fully functional. But after 30 days, registration popup reminder comes up.

You have 30 days to feel advantages of HM.

I am not using a cracked version. I just downloaded it from the ks-soft site yesterday.

The software is NOT fully functional if these register popups stop it from functioning.

All I want is to FULLY evaluate it for 30 days before purchasing.

Sorry, but I did not say you use cracked version. I just quoted manual.

I didn't have any problem with HM during evaluation period.

Anyway, you could write a letter to support@ks-soft.net regarding this issue.

That's right, evaluation version may show registration dialog and pause monitoring. However I don't think this is big problem for evaluation because HM resumes monitoring when you close window (you don't need to restart system or HostMonitor, just single mouse click).
Also we can provide registration code for 10-20 test items...
