hi
I want to know how many monitoring items hostmonitor supports?
We now have more than 1,000 ping monitors. Adding monitors will cause some monitors to become unstable.
Are there monitoring bottlenecks?

We can easily setup 100,000 Ping tests and perform 1000 tests/sec or more (1000 tests/sec is more difficult to reach for other, "heavier", test methods that require more system resources and/or more time to execute).

What exactly means "unstable"?
HostMonior version?
Windows version?
Antivirus version?
Average load (tests/sec)?
Do you use other test methods? E.g. ODBC Query or Oracle tests? ODBC logging? SQL Query action?
Any errors detected by Auditing Tool (menu View)?
May be problem relates to your network, e.g. router, network cable?

Alex

We only need to use ping monitoring, currently 1299/sec, if I add more ping per second monitoring, some pings will lose packets. We need a second to initiate more ping monitoring. If some pings are monitored using RMA. How many pings can be initiated per second? Passive RMA and Active RMA respectively

What exactly means "unstable"? Add more pings per second monitoring. Some pings may lose packets.

HostMonior version? 10.7
Windows version? win 2008 service
Antivirus version? not have
Average load (tests/sec)? Only ping monitoring, 1300+/sec ,

We need to monitor the stability of the line by pinging the destination address and the address of each hop in the link. So the ping address is more than 1000/sec, what is the method to monitor thousands of addresses per second?

HostMonitor version 10.70?
This is very old and not supported version, it was not designed to start more than 128 tests/sec (as far as I remember) so it cannot even start 1299 tests/sec.
You may use Auditing Tool (menu View), it should inform you about problems and possible settings tweaks (I think default tests/sec option in version 10.70 set to 32 or 64)

1) HostMonitor 10.70 does not start so many tests/sec. So it does not matter have you have 250 tests/sec or 25000 tests/sec, results should be the same because HostMonitor v10 will start just 128 tests/sec (or less, depending on the settings)
2) Lost packets problem probably is not related to HostMonitor. E.g. some router can drop some packets, ICMP traffic has lower priority

1st) you should update software, at least HostMonitor.
2nd) check hardware: network card, cables, routers, memory and CPU on HostMonitor system (e.g. if you are using some old CPU with 2 cores, this may be not enough, especially when some 3rd party software running on the system)
Then 1000 pings/sec should not be a problem.
2000 ping/sec is more tricky but possible in some cases.
