RMA 301 - Access is denied

Post by senor_v »

Hello
we have the following setup:
Remote Control Console Version 8.04 for HostMonitor - there we set up a test (test method: check service, target host is a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard machine with a local user "Monitor" (with permissions to log on as a service on the target host - in the test we have entered the user credentials of the monitoring user). Services KS Remote Monitoring agent and Remote Registry services are started, and we want to test if the service "FileZilla" on the target host is running (which it is)

Agent is on a Windows Server 2019 Build 17763
Agent: KS Remote Monitoring Agent
Version: 6.54

When we run the test, we get "RMA 301 - Access is denied"
The two machines are not in the same domain but in the same IP range
All the other tests - CPU, disk space, ping, etc. - are working
Can anyone offer some assistance?
Thanks

RCC (Remote Control Console) does not need any permissions. It does not perform tests, it just shows data retrieved by HostMonitor or RMA agents.
So you should assign these permissions to RMA agent (I assume its running as service?)

Also in some cases its necessary to provide user account using Connection Manager, especially when you are trying to monitor system in another domain, or non-domain member.
Also required for Drive Free Space tests, WMI, Dominant Process..

When we run the test, we get "RMA 301 - Access is denied"
The two machines are not in the same domain but in the same IP range
two machines means RMA system (systemA) and target system with service you want to test (systemB)?
We recommend to install RMA agent in each domain you are monitoring.
All the other tests - CPU, disk space, ping, etc. - are working
Ping does not require any permissions.
CPU requires "Performance Monitor" rights.
Service test - depends on "Alert mode". I assume you are using "Alert when service not started or does not respond" mode?

Yes, you are right. I might have looked at the wrong F1 screen.
We already solved the problem by testing for processes running, not services running. For processes it worked like a charm, for services it gave us an error.

What test mode do you use for Service test?
RMA started as service? or application?
RMA runs in DomainA and checks system located in different domainB?
RMA runs under account then owns "Log on as a Service" permission?
Connection Manager does not have record related to target system?

Process test does not check if Process hung and does not respond.

Hello
1.) "Service not started or does not respond"
2.) as a service (but we tried it as application as well)
3.)yes
4.) yes
5.) in the Connection Manager I have 9 entries for agent "any"
Under resource column, I see unrelated server names/IP adresses
i.e. the target host is not among them
Thanks

I would suggest to
- use another RMA installed in DomainB in order to monitor all systems within DomainB
- correct Connection Manager records
