Hello,

we're using KS Hostmon in Version 9.58 and we've the Problem that we always lose the Connection to the RCC Server.

We can login into HostMonitor via RCC, but all 3-4 Min the program hangs up (not responding) and then the Connection is lost.

We have it running on a Server 2008 R2 Std.

Changing the RCI Port and extending the timeout value to 40 was not a solution.

The syslog shows:

Could you please check if user account, used for RCC connection, has disabled option "Show tests in subfolders (recursive)". This option can be disabled using menu User -> GUI preferences...
Also, you may descrase "Status refresh rate" option, located on RCC connection dialog.

Also, please use Auditing Tool to check for possible problems (menu View->Auditing Tool)

Hello,

Thanks for your replies.

I tried all the ways to fix the Problem, but no suggestion works...

- Disable "Show tests in Subfolders"
- Decrease "Status refresh rate"

The Auditing Tool only criticises a missing Soundfile..

RCC Works for a time an then on a Click in the Gui the Application "crashes", window is white and in Title Bar (not responding) appears.

After 30 sec it works again. Probably reconnect.
There is no Eventog Entry in Windows Eventlog.

Do you have installed any Firewall/Antivirus software on HostMonitor or RCC system? Could you try to disable it and check if issue persists?

Sounds like HostMonitor system busy doing something...
Are you generating reports using network drives?
May be you store logs on network drive?
How many test items in the list?

Do you use ODBC logging or ODBC test method? If yes, what ODBC driver do you use?
Could you check resource usage for each process on HostMonitor system? You may use standard Windows Task Manager to check Handles, GDI and USER objects.
What is the total resource usage on the system? How many handles/threads/GDI objects used by hostmon.exe process?

Regards
Alex

Hello

yes we, re generating Reports every 10 Minutes but on local disk.
We've noticed, that the CPU Usage of the virtual Machine goes up to 50% peak. This also every 10 Minutes.

I will set Reports time Intervall from 10 minutes to 30 min. for a while for testing.

Disabling Virusscan / Firewall doesn't solve the problem.

I'l report back how it works.

Ok now it's clear.
Ist definitively the reporting.

Now i've set the Intervall up to 6h for reporting and it seems to to work now.
But why exist the bug?

CPU - 00
Handles : 370

HostMonitor resources looks fine.
ODBC test methods?

As we see HostMonitor creates report for 3000 test items within 1-2 sec. This should not lead to RCC disconnect...

Could you send your settings to support@ks-soft.net?
HML file with tests + *.LST and *.INI files (you may skip connlist.lst - accounts)

Well, its not nice solution. HostMonitor should work fine with reports.
If you send files, we can try to reproduce the problem...

We've been trying to figure out RCC connection issues for over 6 months and after finding this post I disabled reports and it's working now. Three reports were running every 5 minutes including one that exported the status on about 3,000 tests. The CPU would spike for at least 30 seconds during this time and disconnect RCC. We're also running 9.58 on Windows 2008 R2. I have since enabled two reports that export bad/unknown and disabled tests and still working much better. I don't really need the report for all tests so I'm just going to leave it off.
