Hi,

this is not exactly a bug but has the same effect:
When checking logfiles (NT Event log, even more *nix logs) and having the setting AlertMode = AllEvents the mails are sent in such a short frequency (actually immediately after each other) that they get mixed up at mail servers (the order of the mails received differs from the order of events [log entries/lines]). I tested MS Exchange 2k3 and Mercury/32.

Could you please pause 1 s between these mails (and, for text logs, give an option to send a single mail containing all lines)?

Thank you

Please use "Whish list" forum for such posts.

Not easy modification. "Send e-mail" actions work asynchronously, this means delay before action execution will not help.
Make query for "send e-mail" actions is not very good idea either, sometimes HostMonitor must be able to send many e-mails as quick as possible.

There is delay between test probes that trigger actions but this delay can be shorter than 1 sec.
So we have to change test scheduler...

Regards
Alex

Dear Alex,

you're the boss, just move the post, please, if you feel it more appropriate to be a wish. For us it comes out like a bug falsifying the order of events (i.e. making us check the log file each time which is additional work).

You would not need to change any schedule if you either
a) provided the option "send a single mail containing all lines" which I much preferred)
or b) provided a "check until 1st bad condition and then stop" option where we could configure the 'retest' alert action (which had good use of a "delay for n seconds" option too)

Thank you.
