Hi,

especially with ping tests I do see almost regularely that the configured interval is exceeded /by/far/ (between 3 and 10 times, the average appears to be 5).
Please find two such examples attached, tests that are carried out ~ every 5s despite every 1s (resulting in many unnecessary alarms because dependant tests are not held in time).
The software is 9.30 E, the machine is WinXPSP3 (a test installation on W2k3SP2 Datacenter x64 showed the same) and there are only 284 tests defined (a few less running).

Please fix.

What exactly is the problem?
Your settings shows "Interval = 1", that's why test is performed every second.

Alex

Not sure what exactly do you have in mind.
Do you mean you setup test using 5 sec interval? Using HostMonitor GUI? Using RCC? Using HM script and existing tests (e.g. CopyFolder command)? Import option? In some other way?
Could you please tell us what exactly have you done and how can we reproduce the problem?
May be you are using "Change test interval" action? Or HM Script with some commands?

Regards
Alex

you're not trying to let me look like an idiot, do you?

Are you able to AT LEAST recognize your own test export format?!?
The tests are configured to be carried out /every/second/ but aren't!

What, exactly, is so hard to understand about it?

Perhaps I did not understand what exactly means "carried out" in this context. Do you mean you setup test to be executed every 1 sec but it is executed every 5 sec?
Then could you please start Auditing Tool (menu View)? Any warnings? Errors? What is average load?

Regards
Alex

Alex, I am finishing my workday for today. Not going to waste more time today!
The way you handle this is /not/ what I expected a customer who paid 1.600 US$ to be handled. (BTW: we still do not have the code for 9.32!)

Will answer you tomorrow, but am pretty disappointed and angry (one reason it's better to stop for today)

If you have not sent request to sales@ks-soft.net, please do.
If you did, please check your spam filter settings and add sales@ks-soft.net, support@ks-soft.net into "white list".

I am sorry.
If you have urgent request, please send e-mail (you may do this using HostMonitor menu Help->Support). Normally we respond to e-mails before checking forum.

Alex

new day, new try.

Please read the exported test files which clearly state the tests are configured to be done every second (60 times a minute, even if the test failed (because 2packets x 200ms timeout are less than a second).
Despite that in 1 minute only 10-15 tests are done.

Please fix that so the configured frequency is done*.

Thank you.

Hi Alex,

load is 35 tests/s, only errors are alert related. Audit says "Conclusion: system is able to perform given tests (considerable resource usage)".

But just download your 9.3.2, do a fresh install, open the exampel.hml and even this setup only does 37 tests a minute.

We do not see any problem testing this file. There is single ping test with test interval = 1 sec, right?
Average load 1 test/pec, HostMonitor performed 200 test probes in 200 sec.
And we do not see any problems using our testings files with over 15,000 test items.

Note: if you have 100 test items with test interval 1 sec, this does not mean HostMonitor will perform 100*60 = 6000 test probes per minute. Test interval is interval between finish of test probe #N and start of test probe #(N+1).

Of course when test is performed every 5 sec instead of 1 sec, its not normal (unless test execution takes 4 sec).
This can be caused by too high test frequence in combination with high number of tests and some other configuration mistakes but such problems should be detected by Auditing Tool.
May we see your configuration files? Please send HML file with tests plus *.LST and *.INI files to support@ks-soft.net

Regards
Alex

PS

>But just download your 9.3.2, do a fresh install, open the exampel.hml and even this setup only does 37 tests a minute.

May be you are using some very slow logging method (e.g. store file on problematic network drive or slow SQL server)?
Auditing Tool may show warning in such cases but it may need time to collect statistics...

This cannot be the issue. How much has to be logged for 1(!) single(!) test?

Besides: The amount even for 1000 tests that do not fail was nothing (zero, nada, nietschewo) because only failing tests are logged. It's your default setting to only log at status changes and midnight.

Please do a plain install of 9.3.2 (you could fix the alert error [see View | Auditing Tool] in 9.3.3 BTW), download the hml and see yourself.

I don't know. I have no information about your logging options, that's why I asked you.
May be you are using Full logging mode + big network log file + some slow antivirus or slow SQL server... In some cases we have seen logging with delays over 1 sec per record, that leads to performance problems.
HostMonitor uses internal buffer and special thread for logging but size of the buffer is limited.

As I said we have done this.
