Hello,

I want to check with a text log a log file.
The value to be tested is 114.

If I manually create a text file, the test is working properly.

I choose the log file from the program no longer works, as if he can not read this file.

What can I do?

Best Regards.

Frederik

First of all, please note that Text log test checks only "New" records added to file. If file already contains some "Bad" text, Text log test will ignore it. Also each record should be ended by CRLF (end-of-line).

Quote from manual:
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.htm#tests.htm#textlog
Quote:
Text Log test warns you only when the string is found in a NEW record. It means that if log file already has "bad' records when you started HostMonitor, you will not receive any alerts; but if any new "bad" record will be added to the log file while HostMonitor is running, you will receive a warning about the new problem.

The problem seems to be the log file code.

Opened the log file with Notepad++ it show the code "UCS-2 Little Endian".

I converted to ANSI and the test run well.

I select UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32 w/o and w/ big endian in the HM test.
No luck.

Any idea?

I think UCS-2 is equivalent to UTF-16...
Can we see the file (use support@ks-soft.net e-mail)?

What exactly software do you use? HostMonitor version?
If test is performed by Remote Monitoring Agent, agent version?

Regards
Alex

HostMonitor version 9.10 comes with RMA 4.43.
May be you checked version of rma_cfg.exe program (its 4.00) instead of RMA itself? If you really using RMA version 4.00, please update agent.

We have tested HostMonitor 9.10 and RMA 4.43 using Text Log test method and your file - everything works well.
We set Encoding UTF-16 and all new records added to the file were detected properly.

Probably no new records (that fit alert condition) were added to the log file between test probes.
Please setup Text Log test with UTF-16 encoding, make sure new records were added to the log and then manually refresh the test.

Regards
Alex
