What about creating the watchdog application for mobile devices?
My phone is on 24/7 and always connected to the internet because of my data plan. I would feel even more confident having hm status at my fingertips when on the road and not near a computer.
Sure, there are other server monitoring apps out there that could do the job.
I use one called "Network Tools" for android. It works great for basics like checking router availability.
It would be nice to have a mobile app specific to the features of watchdog like test, action and log statistics.
Just a thought as I was researching the different host monitors available in the android market.
Now, forget about watchdog for a moment.
What if you guys came out with a full blown HM for mobile (please start with android if you do. a selfish opinion lol.).
Granted it would be strictly external checking but that may be enough for most and would generate revenue from a new mobile market.
You would put all the server monitoring apps to shame on the market. Just see for yourself what is available and you would agree.

I am aware of the webservice and it's capabilities.
You missed my point and I feel like you gave me a canned response.
I am talking about a proactive watchdog application for mobile. Not controlling or monitoring hm with a mobile browser.
Tell me how the webservice can be used my mobile device and connection that hostmonitor is online and functioning 24/7 without human intervention or watchdog installed anywhere else?

Sorry but I do not see point in implementing WatchDog or HostMonitor (especially HostMonitor) for any mobile device.
If you want to check status by yourself, you may use Web Service.
If you want to get automatic alert when something wrong with HostMonitor, use WatchDog installed on Windows system. Using external program it can send e-mail or SMS to your phone...
