URL Test or HTTP Test Does not work with SharePoint

Post by bhugh »

I'm trying to get either a URL Test Method or HTTP Test Method to verify my SharePoint Foundation Site is up and running. We are using Windows Authentication. HostMonitor is on one domain, SharePoint on another. Hostmonitor is currently running as a Local System Account. From the server that HM is on, I can hit the SharePoint Site and log on with my credentials. I attempt to put these in the http or url test, but no luck. BTW, I am also using https. I've seen a number of posts related to this, but not clear if you support or do not support this.

I don't know exact requirement of your server so I will say what options are supported by HostMonitor

URL test supports:
- HTTP and HTTPS protocols with basic authentication
- server side client side certificated
- GET and POST requests
(also it may request FTP servers but its not related to your question)

HTTP test supports
- HTTP protocol only (not HTTTPS)
- it may send HEADER, GET and POST requests
- supports basic/NTML authentication

Alex,
Thanks for the replay and great support of your product.
We are using Integrated Windows Authentication/Kerberos with SharePoint. I do see it does have Basic Authentication Possible, but that is not desirable on our end. So, that would lead me to believe that HM url test method won't be able to test that our site is up and available with our type of authentication. I will need to determine another way to monitor this.

Thanks again,

Brian

Yes, I am afraid URL test will not work in such case.
Well, it may check that web server is running and responding but it will not be able to check if authentication works...
